2025 Penghu International Fireworks Festival

The Penghu International Fireworks Festival is a spectacular annual event held in the Penghu, renowned for its breathtaking pyrotechnic displays and vibrant cultural performances. Since its inception in 2003, the festival has evolved into one of Taiwan’s most anticipated summer events, attracting both local and international visitors.

Fireworks Displays

The festival features spectacular fireworks shows set against the backdrop of the Xiying Rainbow Bridge and the serene coastal waters of Guanyinting Recreation Area in Magong City. These displays are complemented by music and performances, creating a festive atmosphere.

Drone Light Shows

In recent editions, the festival has incorporated cutting-edge drone technology to create synchronized light shows. For instance, the 2024 festival featured a collaboration with the anime series “One Piece,” where drones formed characters and scenes from the series in the night sky.

2025 Penghu Fireworks Festival

The Penghu International Fireworks Festival is held every year from May to July in uanyinting Recreation Area and several famous outlying islands of Penghu. Fireworks and drone shows will be held on select nights. The performance time is 9 pm in Magong city (Guanyinting Recreation Area) and 8 pm on outlying islands.

The main events are held at Guanyinting Recreation Area in Magong City, with additional shows on outlying islands such as Jibei, Qimei, and Wang’an. The picturesque setting, combined with the vibrant displays, makes for an unforgettable experience.

Traffic and control information

Guanyinting Recreation Area

Shuttle Bus Service

There is a shuttle service for every performance at Guanyinting Recreation Area, which goes between Wen’ao Elementary School Gymnasium (Xindian Road side) and the County Health Bureau (get off the bus and walk 450 meters to enter the venue). It stops at the Third Fishing International Plaza and Nanhai Visitor Center (Tonghe Road side) along the way. It runs every 15 minutes from 19:00 to 22:00. You are welcome to use it.

The public and tourists are welcome to ride. You can take the shuttle bus for free at the following 4 stops.

How to Get To?

The most convenient way to get to Penghu is by plane. There are regular flights from many cities (Taipei, Taichung, Chiayi, Tainan Kaohsiung, Kinmen) in Taiwan every day, and all of these flights land at Magong Airport in Penghu. If you live in Taipei, flying from Songshan Airport is very convenient as you can even take the Taipei MRT to Songshan Airport (BR13 Exit 1).

By Airplane: Songshan Airport ↔ Penghu Magong
Round trip fare: about NT$4500 (60 minutes)

By Ferry: Chiayi Budai ↔ Penghu Magong
Round trip fare: about NT$2000 (90 minutes)

The ferry option is cheaper than flying. But if you live in Taipei like me, it will take longer to get from Taipei to Chiayi, and the ferry ride is not very comfortable. If you get travel sickness, you may want to take the tablet 30 minutes before you board the ferry.
